Research Services

The central mission of the Office of Social Science Research is providing a variety of services to facilitate research in the Social Sciences at UIC.  OSSR can assist investigators in the proposal development, submission, and post-award phases of the research process.

The staff at OSSR can assist you in achieving your research objectives by:

  • Identifying possible funding sources for research projects and aiding with the preparation of grant proposals.

  • Awarding OSSR seed grants. Funding is available for projects that may lead to external funding, publications, and conference presentations. For specific submission deadline dates, contact the associate director.

  • Facilitating interdisciplinary discussion and planning of research projects,  seminars, and conferences.

  • Providing facilities and equipment including a conference room conference phone, VCRs, overhead projector, and picture and text scanning.

  • Provision of computer technical support to units of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) in the Behavioral Sciences Building (BSB). The technician services computers and peripheral equipment owned by LAS units in the BSB, including setting up new equipment, installing software, and responding to hardware and software problems.

For details on any of these services call the Associate Director at 6-4408 or  email: gaiba@uic.edu
