Illinois Prevention Research Center: Partnering to Promote Health in Urban Communities

Support Efforts to Improve Your Community’s Health—Become a Community Partner, or Donate Goods or Services

The Illinois Prevention Research Center depends on its collaborations with the community to promote healthy behavior in Greater Lawn. We invite your church, school, business, or organization to join us in supporting the Annual community Wellness Fair

Every November for eight years, the Illinois Prevention Research Center has organized an annual wellness fair serving the neighborhoods of Chicago Lawn, Gage Park and West Lawn in partnership with the Latino Organization of the Southwest.

Free health screenings and services are provided by community-based health providers and social service agencies to almost one thousand community residents, many of them children.

Community Wellness Fair 2008

IPRC and the Latino Organization of the Southwest (LOS) are grateful for the support of the co-sponsors of the 2008 wellness fair, to be held Nov. 7 in Marquette Park:

  • Healthy Chicago Lawn (Chicago Department of Public Health)
  • Holy Cross Hospital
  • Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN)
  • Latino Consortium

Thanks to Andrew Holmes, a community activist on the South side, two bicycles--one for a girl, one for a boy--will be raffled at the wellness fair.
