POSSIBLE EXPERIENCE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
(Check out Campus Programs‚ Metromix and City Search websites for other ideas. You may also develop your own ideas for activities‚ but they will need to be approved by Campus Programs.)
URBAN EXPLORATION (Chicago)
- Volunteer for service opportunities in the Chicagoland area (e.g. GIVE program)
- Visit museums‚ art institute
- Attend opera‚ ballet‚ symphony‚ theatre‚ concerts or sporting events.
- Explore the ethnic diversity of the city; try new foods‚ attend a program
- Be active in the myriad of recreational opportunities (biking‚ running‚ sailing)
- Register to vote in a state or local election
INQUIRING MINDS (Research)
- Engage in faculty-led research for credit with the ’Undergraduate Research Experience’
- Interact with faculty outside the classroom
- Participate in Student Development’s ‘Take a Professor to Lunch’ Program
- Explore professional opportunities through Career Services
- Study abroad
- Participate in tutoring or volunteer as a tutor
- Seek academic advising
- Participate in a discipline based organization (e.g. Society of Future Engineers)
- Attend a leadership training seminar/workshop
- Participate in an internship program
- Enroll in an ethics training seminar
- Participate in the student research forums
COMMUNITY (Diversity)
- Work on campus
- Become involved in a campus religious organization
- Attend campus events related to heritage/diversity month celebrations (i.e. Black History‚ Women’s History‚ GLBT‚ Asian American‚ Hispanic‚ Native American)
- Attend campus athletic events and support the Flames
- Vote in a campus election
- Serve as an officer for a campus organization or student government
- Participate in a multi-cultural or disability awareness program on campus
