Breastfeeding on Campus

A Student Guide to Breastfeeding Resources on UIC's East Campus

"It is only in the act of nursing that a woman realizes her motherhood in visible and tangible fashion; it is a joy of every moment."
~Honore de Balzac

When you become responsible for another person’s life, whom you fostered inside your body for an arduous nine months, words cannot describe the overpowering love and commitment you have towards that person. By choosing to breastfeed, you offer nutritional and disease-fighting components for your infant, and breastfeeding fosters a tight bond between mother and child.

Making the commitment to breastfeed is an admirable one but is not always the easiest. There are obstacles facing women who choose to provide breastmilk as the sole nutritional source for their children. This resource is an attempt to alleviate some of the difficulty involved in choosing to breastfeed while still attending classes.
