Campus Advocacy Network

The Campus Advocacy Network (CAN) is an innovative program that provides a team approach to advocacy in order to assist UIC students, staff and faculty who are victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking and hate crimes. At CAN, we believe that all women and men deserve safety from harm, but believe that this safety may be achieved in multiple ways. We respect that gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, class, religious beliefs, and ability can be factors that shape experience with violence. We are committed to working together with survivors of violence even if no further action is taken. We work to realistically explore options open to them and support their attempt to access resources both on and off campus.

Catharsis Productions

Catharsis Productions reduces interpersonal violence by producing artistically innovative, research-supported programming (like Sex Signals and The Hook Up) that challenges oppressive attitudes, transforms behavior, and inspires communities to create a world without violence.

Men Against Sexual Violence

Men Against Sexual Violence (MASV) is a student group aimed at engaging people, especially men, from all communities in the fight to end interpersonal violence. By hosting workshops and events we encourage individuals to question the negative aspects of traditional gender roles and embrace an alternative vision of manhood that is not inherently violent, sexist, or misogynistic. We provide safe spaces for all interested persons to discuss issues of sexual violence and masculinity without fear of being judged as men are not only perpetrators of sexual violence but survivors as well. Through discussion and social events we hope to give our community the tools to confront and stop interpersonal violence in daily interactions.
