This session focuses on the ways to balance your values with your life decisions about money.  The speaker uses as a framework her own great-grandmother's philosophies about living a "rich life", and shows specific steps to help women retire comfortably. Participants will learn how to put their money where their values are, assess their financial standing, discover the Power of the Latte™ factor, and build financial baskets for their retirement, security and dreams.

MANAGING CONFLICT WITH THE MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR

Have you ever been in conflict at work? Through the use of a self-scorable Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) you will learn ways to better manage conflict.  Through interactive exercises you will learn helpful tips on how to better approach conflict situations, communication strategies when working in conflict with others, and ways to resolve conflict in the workplace.

PROSPECTIVE HOMEBUYER WORKSHOP: HOW YOU CAN ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL OF OWNING A HOME

It will also cover the benefits of homeownership, the home buying process, alternative financing options and improving your credit score. Workshop activities will include: Rent vs. Buy Analysis, credit strategies checklist, and essential questions to ask when home buying. FREE Financial Needs Analysis for all attendees.

TAKE CHARGE OF THE CHANGE! A WORKSHOP ON MENOPAUSE

Menopause has been viewed as a symbol of physical decline and aging, but it can be an opportunity for women to embrace their body and move into the next phase of life with new vitality and confidence.  The initial symptoms of perimenopause catch many women by surprise. This interactive workshop will provide an overview of symptoms and common treatments.  Self-help suggestions from established authorities such as Susan Love, Christiane Northrup, and Andrew Weil will be discussed.  Women will also have an opportunity to talk about their personal experiences.  A handout with selected resources will be provided.

READY, SET, LLEAP!: USING LLEAP AS A CATALYST FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AT UIC

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION: THE POWER OF EXPRESSING

Effective communication (or conversation) is the free flow of meaning between two or more people.  People have different communication styles, which affects how successful they are in portraying messages and in being heard.  In this workshop, participants receive tools and guidance on how to communicate with others in order to excel in--and out--of the workplace.  The habits of attitude, attention, eye contact, empty (your mind so you can listen), empathy, engage, affirm, and reflect will be explored.

A WOMAN'S MONEY, A WOMAN'S FUTURE

This presentation targets women's issues through four "life-stages" and highlights why planning is critical. Topics include the importance of participating in an employer plan, taking advantage of tax-deferred investing, choosing appropriate investments products, things to consider if suddenly single, and how to leave a legacy to heirs.

COMMON SENSE: CIVIL SERVICE- KEEPIN' IT REAL!

This workshop will focus on you - the Civil Service Worker from a realistic day-to-day prospective.  This workshop will educate and motivate you, and provide you with the answers you need towards becoming the ultimate UIC Civil Service Employee.  This will not be your typical workshop.  We will address issues pertaining to employee - employer relationships, your work environment, and civil service rights and wrongs.
