KEYNOTE ADDRESS: KERRY ANN ROCKQUEMORE

Kerry Ann Rockquemore recieved her BA in Sociology from Michigan State University and her MA and PhD in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame. Professor Rockquemore's scholarship focuses on racial identity development among mixed-race children, interracial family dynamics, and the politics of racial categorization. She is the author of Beyond Black: Biracial Identity in America (Rowman and Littlefield, 2001, 2007) and Raising Biracial Children (Altimira, 2005) as well as numerous articles and book chapters on biracial identity. In addition to her research, Dr. Rockquemore is the founder of the Under-Represented Faculty Mentoring Program at UIC and provides mentoring workshops for faculty of color at colleges across the U.S. She facilitates the popular online discussion forums at www.BlackAcademic.com , and is co-author of The Black Academic's Guide to Winning Tenure Without Losing Your Soul (Lynne Reinner Press, 2008).

 

LUNCHEON ADDRESS: ELLEN ROGIN, CPA, Certified Financial Planner™

Ellen Rogin, CPA, Certified Financial Planner, is a wealth advisor who frees people to intertwine their lives and wealth in a way that brings them peace and possibility.

Ellen has established a reputation as a nationally-known expert in the field of life and wealth planning. She is a sought after speaker delivering keynote speeches and workshops nationwide. She is often quoted as a financial expert in such national and local publications as: Money Magazine, Business Week, Ladies Home Journal and the Chicago Tribune. Ellen is a regular columnist for the Pioneer Press (48 suburban Chicago papers) writing on money management issues for women and a regular contributor to the Chicago Sun-times business section.

As a woman of experience and entrepreneurial success, Ellen is President of Strategic Financial Designs, Inc., a member of the SEI Wealth Network, an independent life and wealth management firm in Northfield , Illinois . She serves on the board of directors for Metropolitan Capital bank, as well as serving as Director of Financial Planning, Strategy and Marketing for the bank.

Ellen is a storyteller who uses the stories of others and her own to teach and inspire. In her more than 20 years in the financial profession, Ellen has freed people to breathe easier about their money and focus on how they could use it to express what they are about.
