John Baldwin's Home Page


John Baldwin is a Professor of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science.  He has a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Simon Fraser University.  He specializes in model theory and universal algebra.  His work on categoricity and stable theories, model theory and algebra, generalized quantifies, random graphs, and subdirectly irreducible algebras has appeared in such journals as Annals ofMathematical Logic, Transactions of American Mathematical Society, Journal of Symbolic Logic,Algebra Universalis, and Fundamenta Mathematicae.  His recent work in finite model theory has produced connections with theoretical computer science.  Most recently he has been working on infinitary logic.  He has visited the University of Hawaii and the Institute of Advanced Study of Hebrew University.  He was a member of the Executive Council of the Association for Symbolic Logic, 1982-84.  He was named a University Scholar in 2004 and is currently the Director of the Office of Mathematics Education.
