Chastain Memorial Conference

We are planning a conference, to be held September 20, 2008, in honor of our late friend and colleague Charles Chastain.

The morning speakers, John Perry (Stanford) and Robert Stalnaker (MIT), will give talks in Charles's main area of research. The afternoon will be devoted to Charles' broader interests, with a paper in ethics by David Copp (University of Florida) and one in philosophy of mind by Robert Rupert (Colorado at Boulder). There will be a dinner in the evening.

The University of Illinois at Chicago has negotiated a rate of $189/night for September 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, one of the closest hotels to campus. If you will be staying at the Crowne Plaza, please make your own reservations (except for our speakers) as soon as possible since a limited number of rooms are available at this rate. If you think you might be attending but are not certain, we advise that you make reservations now and cancel if necessary. You can cancel your reservation without charges to your credit card until 6 p.m. of the day before your reservation begins. To obtain the negotiated rate, you will need to ask for the "UIC negotiated rate". Saying that you are attending the Chastain Conference will not by itself obtain the reduced rate.
