Hotels in Oak Park

Oak Park is approximately 15 to 20 minutes from the UIC Campus via the I290 Expressway, so offers an attractive alternative to staying in the Loop area. The Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio (in Oak Park) is one of the popular tourist destinations in Chicago. The Webster recommends two hotels that his visitors have used.

All rates are per night, plus a 10% city room tax not included:

Bed and breakfast

$50 for single and $65 for two persons

The Write Inn

The Write Inn is located adjacent to the central downtown square/park in Oak Park, and just a few minutes walk from the "Frank Lloyd Wright" area of Oak Park, including his workshop & many excellent examples of his houses.

The Carleton of Oak Park

The Carleton is a modern combination motel/hotel, and the first floor has Poor Phil's Oyster bar a well-known Oak park establishment. The Hotel is best reached via car from the Eisenhower Expressway, exit at Harlem, go north to the light at Pleasant Ave., then turn east into Oak Park. It is about 3 blocks east of Harlem.

To get to the UIC east campus from the Oak Park is easy: take the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) east from Austin or Harlem Ave., then exit just before the Loop, but after the Racine Exit, onto the South Dan Ryan. Stay in the far right lane, for immediately after starting to exit for the Ryan is a side exit onto Taylor & Roosevelt Streets. Take this, and turn right at the light (Westbound onto Taylor), then immediately right again into the UIC Parking Lot.
