Commander CappitelliCommander, Field Services Division

Frank Cappitelli joined the UIC Police Department as Commander of the Field Services Division after a 31-year career with the Chicago Police Department. During that career, Commander Cappitelli served as a patrolman, detective, Assistant Director in the city's Office of Municipal Investigations, and as a Homicide Coordinator for the Chicago Police Department's Detective Division.

He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and holds a doctorate (1996, PhD) in Public Policy from UIC's College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs.

Commander Cappitelli has received numerous commendations and awards including the Cook County Sheriff's Police "Award of Merit".

This division is responsible for the general line operations of the UIC Police Department, which includes patrol operations, investigations, traffic enforcement, community-oriented policing strategies, prisoner processing, warrants, inspections, court attendance, and other associated programs and events.
