Political science as a discipline only thrives
when political scientists talk to each other across sub field lines, and learn
from work in related social science disciplines. The Office for Democracy
Studies seeks to encourage intellectual interchange within the Political Science
Department, with other political scientists, and with members of other
disciplines. It does so by emphasizing the themes of Democracy and
Democratization. ODS seeks to encourage work on these themes by sponsoring a
lecture series and other activities. All members of the Department are welcome
to participate and play a role in shaping these activities.
The purpose of the office is to further create a center of gravity for the
department and to be a focus for the department's synergy. ODS is meant to be
related to everyone's work in the department, and to be a focus of academic life
in the department. |
