PDP Data Sets
The PDP has compiled various datasets for
departmental use. Even as some of these datasets are periodically
updated, we continue to search for additional data that may be of some
research or teaching interest to the department.
If you would like more information about
any of these datasets, would like a copy of a dataset or codebook, or
need technical assistance with utilizing these data, contact the PDP
students.
The PDP currently
owns the following OECD Databases:
OECD Historical
Statistics: 1970/1999 2000 Edition
This annual publication provides an overview of the economic development
of the Member countries of the OECD since 1970. The tables mainly show
derived statistics such as growth rates and percentage shares. They
include national accounts, population and labor force, prices, domestic
finance and foreign trade.
National Accounts of OECD Countries: Detailed Tables 1970-2000, 2002
Edition Volume 2
The 2002 edition of the National Accounts of OECD Countries: Detailed
Tables, Volume II covers, in addition to main aggregates, detailed
national accounts data for most OECD countries. It includes detailed
breakdown by kind of activity for gross value added (current and
constant 1995 prices), components of value added, gross fixed capital
formation and employment. It also includes final consumption expenditure
of households by purpose and simplified accounts for general government.
OECD Social Expenditure Database: 2nd Edition 1980/1997
The OECD Social Expenditure Database (SOCX) has been developed in order
to serve a growing need for indicators of social policy. It includes
reliable, up-to-date and internationally comparable statistics on public
and mandatory private social expenditure at program level. SOCX provides
a unique tool for monitoring trends in aggregate social expenditure and
analyzing changes in its composition. It covers 28 OECD Countries* for
the period 1980-1997. Data are classified under 13 social policy areas:
Old age cash benefits; Disability cash benefits; Occupational injury and
disease; Sickness benefits; Services for elderly and disabled people;
Survivors; Family cash benefits; Family services; Active labor market
programs; Unemployment; Public expenditure on health; Housing; Other
contingencies.
OECD Revenue Statistics: 1965/1999 2000 Edition
Data on government sector receipts, and on taxes in particular, are
basic inputs to most structural economic descriptions and economic
analyses and are increasingly used in international comparisons. This
annual publication provides a conceptual framework to define which
government receipts should be regarded as taxes and to classify
different types of taxes. It presents a unique set of detailed and
internationally comparable tax data in a common format for all OECD
countries from 1965 onwards. This year's edition presents three special
features. The first one reviews current reporting of non-wastable (i.e.
refundable) tax credits. The second special feature highlights the
church tax, a levy imposed by six OECD countries. The third feature
discusses the impact of revised GDP figures on reported tax levels.
Health Data, OECD Health Data 2002
OECD Health Data 2002 offers the most comprehensive source of comparable
statistics on health and health systems across OECD countries. It is an
essential tool for health researchers and policy advisors in
governments, the private sector and the academic community, to carry out
comparative analyses and draw lessons from international comparisons of
diverse health care systems.
