Melissa FerrickMelissa Ferrick grew up in in Ipswitch, Massachusetts. She began to study the violin at age four, studied trumpet at the New England Conservatory of Music and bass guitar at Berklee College during high school. Melissa bought an acoustic guitar and taught herself how to play. She spent two years writing songs and playing live. After a financially disastrous year in New York City, she returned to Boston where she was given the chance to open for Morrissey at Great Woods. Morrissey was so impressed that he invited Melissa to finish the tour with him.
She has two albums on Atlantic Records: Massive Blur -- released August 1993; and Willing to Wait -- released April 1995. In 1996, Melissa independently released a 6-song cassette EP, Made of Honor.
Her most recent release is a full-length live CD, Melissa Ferrick +1, released by Hidden Water Records in April 1997.
She has toured with an array of artists: Marc Cohn, Paul Westerberg, John Hiatt, Dwight Yoakam, Weezer, and Del Amitri. Please check out her Hidden Waters web site to learn more about her abums and read lyrics to the songs on her first two albums.
We are delighted to have Melissa headline our second evening of entertainment on Saturday, February 21.
