Just for openers...

We are very happy to have the Artists Formerly Known as the WAC Drum Core opening for Leslie Feinberg and the Radical Faeries closing out the conference. These groups are both excellent examples of ways to get involved politically and socially and also make lots of beautiful noise and spread lots of queer love. Enjoy!

Artists Formerly Known as the WAC Drum Core

After many years of taking to the streets with their drums of action, a group of women from the WAC Drum Core have created a brand new performance ensemble. They will continue to develop the dynamic, woman-centered performance style and commitment to feminist action that has already made them a favorite on the Midwest performance circuit. Keep your ears open for an announcement of their brand new name Saturday afternoon!

The Radical Faeries

It is difficult to sum up the Radical Faeries in a sentence or two. One of the most important things to remember is that no two faeries agree on a single definition. In keeping with this fine tradition, faeries on the Internet have a FQA (Frequently Questioned Answers) list instead of an FAQ (Frequently Answered Questions).

In spite of this, the faerie movement has flourished in the United States since the 1970s and "chapters" have recently sprung up in Europe. The faeries are a circle of loving friends seeking an alternative to urban gay culture. The faeries are concerned with issues of spirituality, sexuality, gender, nature, and the celebration of individual expression. To be a Radical Faerie is an act of self-definition.
The Faeries are producing a week-long Faerie Festival March 17-22 at the Randolf Street Gallery, 756 N. Milwaukee Avenue. The festival features performances of "Next Year in Sodom" by the Eggplant Faerie Players of Tennessee, a cabaret night, a theater "works in progress" night, a Sunday afternoon benefit for the gallery, and a 48-hour "gathering in the gallery" where the faeries will present their style of utopian living to the world.
