GayPoz
GAYPOZ is an internet discussion list for BOTH emotional support AND sharing medical information for GAY MEN WHO ARE HIV POSITIVE.
Although HIV/AIDS affects people throughout society, some gay men living with HIV feel more comfortable discussing certain issues in a strictly HIV+ gay male environment. This list will try to provide a safe place of this sort, and is for this purpose only.
This is a CLOSED list. All subscribers must be approved by the maintainer. Anyone who wishes to subscribe must first contact the co-maintainers by private e-mail at sjbowen@cei.com or rht@world.std.com .
This list is UNMODERATED. Members are free to post whatever they wish without censorship. The maintainer reserves the right to unsubscribe members if there is a serious problem. In the unlikely event of a problem, the maintainer will correspond with the member privately with the intention of resolving the problem.
There is a MORE GENERAL AND INCLUSIVE HIV-SUPPORT mailing list maintained here, too. For an automated response providing information on that list, send a message to "HIV-Support-owner@lists.boygenius.com". The text of the message should be "info hiv-support". Do NOT include the quotation-marks (") in your message!
Here are some guidelines for this list:
1. Feel free to share information (medical and otherwise), experiences, feelings, and opinions in a compassionate and supportive way.
2. The assumption is that HIV causes AIDS.
3. No advertisements, please.
4. Researchers and observers are requested NOT to subscribe. This list is for gay men living with HIV only. Please respect our privacy and confidentiality. Subscribers must first contact the co-maintainers by private e-mail (addresses below).
5. Respect each other. No blaming the victim or telling people they'll die if they don't follow your treatment ideas.
6. Please take the time to make your message the best it can be. Consider your posting carefully before sending it out. Is it appropriate to an e-mail support group? Will it further the purpose of the group? Remember, your message will be seen by lots of people who are taking their time to read it. Proper spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and line and paragraph breaks will help make your message more readable.
You may subscribe to either of two lists: GayPoz or GayPoz-Digest.
The digest (summary) of the day's messages will go out at midnight.
To subscribe to GayPoz, send a brief private e-mail message to:

You will then receive a few simple questions. When you return your answers, the co-maintainers can subscribe you. Once you are a member, if you wish to send mail to folks on the list, just send mail to "GayPoz-Owner@GayPoz.Com" (without the quotation-marks). Members may post anonymously by sending mail to " anonymous-GayPoz-Owner@GayPoz.Com".
This is a private list. No one can use the "who" command to see who is on the list. While this offers some privacy to members of the list, remember that not much is truly private on the internet. Please help us to maintain an atmosphere of confidentiality and trust. Archives of GayPoz will not be available except by private requestto one of the co-maintainers.
