1995 MIDWEST BISEXUAL LESBIAN AND GAY COLLEGE CONFERENCE
In February of 1995 (just a few short months away), the Gay and Lesbian
student Union of Southern Illinois University will be hosting the 1995
Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian and Gay College Conference. This year promises
to be the best yet, with nationally recognized speakers and entertainers
as well as over 150 work shops on such topics as networking, outreach,
forming pride weeks, dealing with college administrators, legal rights,
AIDS/HIV on campus, group organization, etc.
Last year's conference boasted 300+ participants. This year we hope
to have 500! but we need help!
First, we need the names of any student/faculty group at colleges in
the Midwest who would like to receive information about the conference.
We also need the name of any unattached college student/faculty member
who would like to attend. The cost will be somewhere in the $20-$30
range for the weekend.
We also need sponsors! If anyone has a tip or a lead on a company who
would be interested in sponsoring an event or taking out advertising
space, please let us know! We are a non profit student group who has been
denied funding from the university to sponsor this conference because of
it's "lack of broad appeal" ( translation: we won't pay to bring 500 of
"those people" to our campus, even though we will pay to bring 500
international students from other colleges here ). Any donations made to
the conference are tax-deductible, and proposals for grants are available.
Please, if you know of anyone who would be interested in attending the
conference or in helping sponsor the event, pass the following
