Date: Mon, 18 Dec 1995 From: Lisa Doyle Subject: Midwest GLB College Conference *****Permission to copy and forward in part or in entirety. ***** ****Please Cross-Post Anywhere and Everywhere Appropriate The 4th Annual Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian and Gay College Conference Building Queer Success in the Midwest Friday, 23 February 1996 to Sunday, 25 February 1996 Hosted by Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin If you have any questions regarding any of this information please direct inquiries to MBLGCC96@stu.beloit.edu or (608) 363-4112. The MBLGCC is an occasion for approximately 350 Queer youth and straight supporters from midwestern colleges and universities to come together. This will be the fourth annual conference. The previous host institutions ranged in size from small liberal arts colleges (Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana) to large state universities (Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, 1993; Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois; 1995). The positive affects of this conference are widespread. It provides a chance for Queer youth to receive support from their peers and relate their personal and collective experiences. The communication will increase their knowledge of issues and concerns facing the Queer community in the United States and worldwide. Perhaps the most important affect of this conference will be the sense of optimism and empowerment that results from networking and being with queer youth from all over the Midwest. The sense of unity, community and pride that attendees will discover at this conference will encourage proactive and productive activities on their own campuses. This conference will not only affect those who attend, but all individuals and communities with whom attendees interact.
