The Alliance of Bisexual, Lesbian & Gay Students & Allies of Indiana State University Presents THE 1997 M I D W E S T B I S E X U A L, L E S B I A N & G A Y C O L L E G E C O N F E R E N C E We're Here! We're Queer! We're Fabulous! INDIANA STATE UNIVERSITY TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA 21--23 FEBRUARY 1997 HISTORY ------- The Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian & Gay College Conference began in 1993 at Iowa State University. Since then, the conference has grown in attendance, each year, and has featured high caliber speakers & entertainers, including Uvashi Vaid, Marga Gomez, The Flirtations, Suzanne Westenhofer, and Lillian Faderman. Following the inaugural event at Iowa State, the conference moved to Earlham College (Richmond, Ind.) in 1994, Southern Illinois University in 1995, and Beloit College (Wisconsin) in 1996. PURPOSE ------- The MBLGCC has allowed hundreds of students, faculty, and community members from more than a dozen Midwest states to gather annually for education, growth, fun times and networking. KEYNOTERS --------- * Jim J. Bullock * is a popular actor, comedian & talk show host. He's a former cast member of TV's _Too Close For Comfort_ & _The Jim J. & Tammy Faye Show_ . * Leslea Newman * is a well-published & controversial author, best known for books such as _Heather has Two Mommies_ and _ Good Enough To Eat_ . * Kenneth Sherrill * is a chair of the Political Science Department at Hunter College, City University of New York. He has edited & published numerous essays about gays & lesbians and their participation in the political system, including _Gays & The Military_ . ENTERTAINERS ------------ * Dos Fallopia * is the warped comic mind of Seattlelites Lisa Koch and Peggy Platt. They have performed their outrageous kamikaze comedy act, combining music, sketches, improv, razor sharp wit and general lunacy nation-wide. * Ubaka Hill, and the ShapeShifterS * will entertain conference-goers with their special brand of percussion, poetry and song. Her music is inspired by different traditions and is a kaleidoscope of melodic rhythms. * The CC Rae Show, Featuring Randy Boucher * is a one-man sensation! He combines lip-synch with female impersonation and life-size puppets in a way that is nearly indescribable (meaning you'll have to see for yourself!) Watch him do Barbara, the Church Lady, Peggy Bundy and Morticia Adams as well as his own twisted characters! ADDED ATTRACTIONS ----------------- * Special Saturday dance * after our show, features music and lights by The System & DJ Craig Ketner and a performance by our finest local female impersonators! * Z'bazaar * will be our information & merchandise area, open throughout the weekend!
