------------------------------------------------------------------------- MIDWEST NETWORKING PROJECT: UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT CHICAGO CCSLGBI -- COMMUNICATION AND NETWORKING SUBCOMMITTEE ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Data Base File: Illinois State University ------------------------------------------------------------------------- at Illinois State On Saturday, April 19th, the Office of Residential Life will be hosting an organizational retreat for LGBT campus organizations in Central Illinois. We're hoping to provide LGBT students from across Central Illinois with an open forum for that day - a place to share ideas, experiences, successes, challenges, and make connections with one another - with a view to investigating the possibility of building an active coalition of LGBT student organizations. As of this date, we have purposely left the Retreat unstructured, as we feel that the greatest benefit will come from you simply engaging in facilitated discussion with your counterparts. However, if there is a topic you have an interest in learning more about, or what be interested in presenting on to the rest of the group, please let us know! This Retreat is open to everyone, but we would advise you to strongly encourage those individuals who stand to assume positions of leadership in your organizations within the next six months to two years. Addtionally, we have a real interest and concern in reaching individuals from colleges and universities with no existing or active LGBT student organization. [If you have connections at such schools, we'd much appreciate your assistance in getting the word out!] There is no cost for the Retreat. Lunch will not be provided; however, there are several restaurants and a campus dining center within a 3-5 minute walk from the retreat location. Visitor parking is available, but somewhat limited, so best to carpool if possible. The Retreat will be held in the Walker Hall Small Lounge on the Illinois State campus, from 10 am to 4:30 pm. Bloomington-Normal is approximately 1/2 hour from Peoria, an hour from Springfield and Champaign-Urbana and 2 1/2 hours from Chicago. Take I-55 to Exit 165-A to US 51 (Business Route) South - Main St. Left on College Avenue, right onto University St. Walker Hall is behind Dunn-Barton Hall, which you'll see on the right hand side at the intersection with the second stop sign. Please let us know if you plan to attend and how many will be coming by 12:00 noon on Monday, 14 April. For more information, call 309.436.0416, or email to rncoffe@wpgate.shs.ilstu.edu. We look forward to seeing you!
