Claudio Guillen, Professor Emeritus, Harvard University and Universitat Pompeu
i Fabra (Barcelona), is the author of numerous books on Spanish Literature and
Comparative Literature and the winner of Spain's "Premio Nacional del Ensayo."
His interests include Early Modern and Modern Spanish and European Literature
and the implications of literary theory. His books include
The Anatomies of Roguery: a comparative study in the origins and the nature of
picaresque literature (1967); Literature as System: Essays toward the Theory
of Literary History(1971); Entre lo uno y lo diverso: introducciòn a la
literatura comparada (1985); El Primer Siglo de Oro: estudios sobre géneros y
