Dear Alumni and Other Friends:

Thanks to all of you who made contributions to last year’s annual fundraising drive. Your generous donations to this campaign alone added almost $10,000 to our student support funds!

While all student support funds are offered as options to our contributors during our annual campaign, we would like to focus our effort this academic year on two specific funds—the Alan Donaldson Endowment for student travel and the SPH Alumni Gift Fund for student space needs.

Over the last few years, funds from the Donaldson Endowment have helped provide travel support to students invited to present papers at the annual American Public Health Association meetings and a number of other professional forums both in and outside the U.S. However, we must significantly increase the dollars available in this endowment in order to continue offering travel support to the growing numbers of students being invited to participate in various professional opportunities every year.

As the school proceeds with its plans to move into a newly renovated building next year, adequate and properly furnished student space is one of the priorities for our new home. For this reason, the board of the SPH Alumni Association established a gift fund a couple of years ago to begin raising money for student space needs in the new building. In addition to providing support for furnishing and equipping a student lounge, these funds may also support other space needs identified by students such as a parent-child room and private study areas. An increase in support now will allow us to plan and complete more of the improvements before students begin attending classes in our new building next fall.

This year’s annual fundraising campaign began with a mail solicitation in September, from one of our students to previous donors. This will be followed by a phone call early in the new year, to those who have not yet made a contribution. To those of you who have already sent us your gift, thank you. If you have not, please consider supporting the Alan Donaldson Endowment or the SPH Alumni Gift Fund. If you’d prefer to give to one of our other student support funds, they are listed on the adjacent form.
