Dr. Chávez has been a member of the School of Public Health, Community Health Sciences Division and a core faculty member of the federally funded Maternal and Child Health Training Program faculty since 1987.  Dr. Chávez’s community-based research focuses on health behaviors and services use of Hispanic and other minority groups across the life cycle. Her teaching responsibilities include public health planning and evaluation, nutritional epidimiology and public health nutrition.
