This session will include a review of the different types of program evaluation including process (formative) and outcome (summative). Evaluation designs will be identified in terms of sample selection, timing and direction of data collection, and the implications for analysis and interpretation. Also discussed will be how different approaches to program evaluation affect design choice and methodological issues related to individual versus population-based design strategies.
