During this training session participants will learn how to conduct a community health assessment which focuses on the nutrition needs of the community. The session will include information and activities. The steps to conducting a community assessment will be reviewed: 1) define the community, 2) determine perceived needs, 3) assess health and nutrition status, and 4) determine community resources. The tools to complete each of these steps will also be presented, and participants will use some of the community assessment tools during the training session. The information and activities during this session will help participants think about integrating disease prevention nutrition programs with other community services. Examples of local community assessments will be incorporated into the session.
