1998-99 Highlights: In his freshman season, averaged 5.7 ppg and finished
second on the squad for rebounding with 4.9 rpg which is the most by a UIC rookie
in the school's Division I history…started at forward in 20 of 27 games, but
missed the final outing of the year against Detroit at the MCC Tournament after
breaking his hand in practice…finished as the Flames' top free throw shooter,
hitting 85.7% at the line, and ranked fourth among the UIC single season free
throw leaders…led the squad in rebounding five times and grabbed double-digit
caroms twice…scored in double digits seven times during the season, including
a career-high 15 points against Loyola on Jan. 23…registered his first career
"double-double" with 10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds against Detroit
on Feb. 6…had 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals against Wright State on Jan.
4…led the Flames with 11 points and 8 rebounds against Big Ten champs Michigan
State on Dec. 13…tallied 6 points and a team-high 11 rebounds in the outing
at Butler on Jan. 28.
Prep Highlights: Finished his career at Moline High School as the seventh
all-time leading scorer with 973 points and owns the record for blocked shots
in a single season (70)...as a senior, averaged 16.0 ppg and 11.8 rpg en route
to Associated Press Honorable Mention All-State recognition...was also an Illinois
Basketball Coaches Association Second Team All-State honoree and Honorable Mention
All-State by the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times...scored a career-high
29 points versus Springfield Southeast while his top rebounding game of 24 boards
came against LaSalle Peru in the sectional semifinals... selected to the All-Western
Big Six First Team as well as the All-Western Illinois and all-metro squads...also
chosen to the Champaign News Gazette Second Team All-State...competed in the
IBCA All-Star game during the summer of '98 and, as a member of the victorious
Class AA North team, he tallied 10 points and 6 rebounds in 15 minutes of action...as
a junior, averaged 14.7 ppg, second-most on the squad, and 7.5 rpg as Moline
compiled a 23-7 overall record and finished as the Western Big Six champions...shot
50% from the field and 67% at the charity stripe...earned First Team All-Western
Big Six honors as well as All-Quad City Metro First Team and All-Western Illinois
First Team accolades...a Third Team All-State selection by the Illinois Basketball
Coaches Association and the Champaign News Gazette.
