Prep Highlights: Ended his tenure at Forreston High School as the holder
of four career records - scoring (1,765 points), assists (425), three-point
field goals (187) and free throws made (376)…also holds the single season school
record for scoring (765 points), assists (175), three-point field goals (93)
and free throws made (158) which were all set during his senior season…additionally,
in his final year, led the team in scoring with an average of 23.9 ppg and added
team-highs of 5.5 assists, 2.1 steals and 45.0% three-point field goal shooting…hit
a total of 93 three-pointers for the year, including a school record nine three's
in one game, and finished first at the Class A State three-point contest…at
the line last season, he drained 80.2% of his charity shots and also helped
out defensively with 3.9 rpg…turned in seven 30+ point outings during the year,
including a career-high 38 points against Thompson…he led Forreston to a 30-2
overall record and a perfect 16-0 mark in the Upstate Illini South Conference…post-season
honors included Freeport Journal-Standard Area Player of the Year, First
Team Upstate Illini South All-Conference and IBCA First Team All-State recognition…as
a junior, he averaged 21.0 ppg, fourth most in school history, while also adding
3.4 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 steals…shot 41.4% from the field, 35.3% from
three-point range, fifth-best in a single season, and 83.7% at the free throw
line, which is the second-highest ever in Cardinals history…following the year,
he earned Freeport Journal-Standard All-Area recognition and Upstate
Illini South All-Conference honors…his 5.3 assists as a sophomore was second-most
in school history…away from the court, he was a member of the National Honor
Society for two years and earned Upstate Illini South Academic All-Conference
accolades a pair of seasons.
