Prep Highlights: Enjoyed an outstanding career at Stagg High School
and left as the school's career leader for free throws made (236), rebounds
(461) and blocked shots (164)…finished fifth on the all-time scoring list with
1,078 points…also owns the Stagg single season records for field goals made
(219), free throws made (122) and blocked shots (91)…as a senior, he led the
Chargers to the most wins in school history with a 20-9 overall record…finished
the year with averages of 19.7 ppg, 7.9 rpg and 3.1 blocked shots while shooting
57% from the field and 63% at the free throw stripe…set a pair of school records
against Carl Sandburg as he finished with 34 points on 92% (12-for-13) field
goal shooting…also blocked a record-high nine shots against Oak Forest…led the
Chargers in scoring 20 times, tallying 20+ points 17 times, while topping the
squad in rebounding in 16 games…named the SICA West Conference Player of the
Year for the second straight year while earning Chicago Sun-Times and
Daily Southtown All-Area accolades…earned Chicago Sun-Times and
Chicago Tribune All-State special mention in addition to a spot on the
IBCA All-State Team…as a junior, he sank a school record 18 free throws in a
game against Hinsdale South and finished the year with averages of 16.8 ppg
and 8.2 rpg…established (then) school records of six rejections against Hinsdale
South and a season total of 53 blocked shots…in addition to being chosen the
SICA West Player of the Year, he was also chosen the player of the year by the
Star Newspaper and named to the all-area team by the Daily Southtown…was
also given special mention all-area by both the Chicago Tribune and Chicago
Sun-Times.
