Prior to UIC: Played his first two seasons of collegiate basketball
at nearby Harper Community College in Palatine, Ill….last season as a sophomore,
he broke the school's single season assist record with 227 and became the first
player ever to record a "triple-double" with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists
vs. Rock Valley Community College…he registered 16.9 ppg and 6.2 rpg while leading
the Hawks to a third-place finish at the national tournament…topped the squad
in assists (8.3 apg) and steals (2.7 spg)…shot 49% from the field, and 35% beyond
the three-point and 85% at the charity stripe…scored a career-high 27 points
in an outing against Montgomery Community College in the national tournament
while his personal-best 12 rebounds came against the College of DuPage…following
the season, he garnered All-America, all-conference and all-regional honors
and was selected the team and league MVP as well as the athlete of the year
at Harper…as a rookie, he averaged 15.2 ppg, 6.1 assists and 2.5 steals to lead
Harper CC while also adding nearly four rebounds a game…shot 47% from the field
and 83% at the free throw line…had one of his best outings of the season against
Oakton Community College when he tallied 23 points, six assists and seven rebounds.
Prep Highlights: Lettered three seasons as a point guard at Palatine
High School…as a senior, he averaged 11.4 ppg while shooting 62% from the field
and 85% at the free throw line…post-season accolades included all-conference
and all-area recognition.
