1998: UIC's top returning all-around performer…had his best all-around meet at home versus Michigan, finishing with a score of 53.050 and a fouth place finish…also set a career high 9.250 on the floor exercise versus Michigan…tied for second on the parallel bars at home versus Michigan State with a 9.550…grabbed fifth on the pommel horse with a 9.250 at Illinois…also set a career high on the vault with a 9.450, finishing eighth versus Illinois.

1997: Competed in all of the Flames' 11 meets as a rookie…turned in UIC's season-high performance on the pommel horse in a tri-meet with Minnesota and Temple when he scored a 9.75…tied for the season-best score on the parallel bars with Sean Grosvenor when each tallied a 9.75 in Minnesota/Temple meet…grabbed first place on the parallel bars at the National Independent Championships with a 9.70…was the Flames' top pommel horse competitor against Michigan State with a 9.50…took first place on the pommel horse with a 9.40 and tied for second on the parallel bars with a 9.40 against Michigan…his best showing at the NCAA East Regionals came on the vault where he scored a 9.10…highest all-around finish of the year came in a dual meet with Illinois when he scored a 53.40.

Personal/Prep: Prior to UIC, competed at the Columbus Gymnastics Academy and placed first in the all-around for Class One and won the pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar events… qualified for nationals twice, finishing fourth on the pommel horse and 18th in the all-around in 1995 and third on the pommel horse in 1996…at the 1996 Ohio state meet, he took first on the high bar and third in the all-around…majoring in Kinesiology…born June 23, 1978…son of Carl and Susan Gabel.
