1998: Tallied a career high score of 9.250 on the floor
exercise versus
Michigan, finishing sixth…also took third on the horizontal bar with a
season high 9.300 versus Michigan…scored a high 9.350 on the parallel bars
at New Mexico, finishing fourth…vaulted to a career best score of 9.200 at
Illinois…set a season best 9.000 on the pommel horse at the Windy City
Invitational.
1997: Scored a career-high 9.525 on the parallel bars and
had a 9.20 on
the horizontal bar at the National Independent Championships…tallied a
personal-best of 9.40 on the high bar and was UIC's top finisher on the
parallel bars with a 9.40 in a tri-meet with Army and Navy…turned in the
Flames' best performance with a 9.30 on the parallel bars at the NCAA East
Regionals…career-high of 9.20 pommel horse came in UIC's final tri-meet of
the year with Minnesota and Temple.
1996: Competed as a true freshman on the horizontal bar,
parallel bars and
vault…earned a 20th-place finish at the NCAA East Regionals with a
season-high score of 9.20…scored a campaign-high 8.95 on the high bar in
the same meet which was good enough for 37th.
Personal/Prep: Lettered for three years at Westerville South
High
School…as a junior, captured the state championship on the vault and still
rings while in his sophomore season, he garnered a third-place finish on
the vault and sixth-place finish on the rings…competed for the Columbus
Gymnastics Academy…a member of the National Honor Society…pursuing an
Engineering degree…born May 24, 1977…son of Gary and Peggy Koonce.
