1997: Competed solely on the still rings last season...turned in his career-high performance and matched UIC's season high on the rings with a 9.70 in a tri-meet with Army and Navy, that score contributed to the campaign-high team score of 38.500...took first place on the rings in two dual meets with Michigan, the first time scoring a 9.475 and the second meet a 9.40...the Flames' top rings finisher at the Windy City Invitational with a 9.25

1996: As a rookie, tied for 21^st at the NCAA East Regionals, matching his season-best score of 9.50 on the still rings...also recorded that score en route to a second-place finish in a dual meet with Western Michigan...took home second place with a 9.45 on the rings in a competition with Michigan.

Personal/Prep: Lettered four years as an all-arounder at Oak Park-River Forest High School...a Liberal Arts and Sciences major...born August 13, 1977...son of Tom and Patricia Nelson.
