Course Descriptions & Syllabi

Course Descriptions

Course descriptions for undergraduate and graduate courses offered at UIC are available on the UIC Course Descriptions web page. This page contains course descriptions for all courses offered year-round at UIC. Therefore, many of these courses will not be offered during the summer session. Note: 500-level courses require graduate standing.

If you are a visiting student and planning to transfer a course or courses back to your home college or university, it is up to your home institution to determine whether a particular UIC course will transfer. Once you decided which course(s) you would like to take, please print out a copy of the course description(s) and take it to your home college advisor for approval.

Course Syllabi

Many academic departments post syllabi on their websites. If you are looking for a syllabus, you can check the appropriate academic department website to see if it is available online. Syllabi may not be available before the start of the term, but if you are looking for textbook information, you can also check the East Campus Bookstore website to see whether the textbook information for your classes is available and to order books online.

If you are a visiting student and planning to transfer a course back to your home institution, your advisor may request to see a syllabus. Please check the appropriate academic department website or contact the Summer Session Office at (312) 996-9099 or toll-free at (800) 625-2013. We will try to provide you with a copy of the syllabus from a previous term.
