Grammar for Academic and Professional Writing

apply apply

This 8-week course focuses on learning how to produce concise, clear, error-free writing. Explanation and review of grammar concepts are combined with proofreading exercises and independent writing tasks. This course is designed for high-intermediate to advanced level non-native English speakers to help them with academic or professional writing tasks of their choice.

In this course, students will:

  • Review grammar concepts that most frequently cause errors in non-native speaker writing
  • Identify and correct grammar errors in writing through editing and proofreading practice
  • Learn the organization of academic and professional texts as needed by course participants
  • Learn techniques for clear, effective writing
  • Create a 'checklist' of their most frequent grammar errors for more effective self-monitoring and correction
