Effective
Professional Writing
Writing
effectively is a necessary skill in the academic and professional
worlds. Learning how to produce concise, clear, and error-free
writing is the focus of this 8-week course. Participants
work with cases taken from the news and individual work-related
situations to practice various writing formats. Instructors
give feedback on writing exercises and guide the participants
through an effective revision process.

the basics of writing letters, memos, and reports
- Compose
letters for specific purposes to inform, persuade, agree
or disagree
- Learn
to summarize text and respond appropriately
- Review
essential grammar skills related to effective writing
- Learn
to edit and revise writing for maximum effect
- Analyze
the importance of tone and style in communication
- Focus
on individual needs through one-on-one instruction
