Spring Mini-Term Courses
April 29 - May 17, 2013
These classes are open to non-native English speakers, age 19 or older. They are not limited to UIC students.

The registration deadline is one week before classes
begin. Late registration is possible if space permits. You

Evening Courses
Vocabulary and Grammar for Conversation
Mon/Wed 6 - 8 p.m. (April 29 – May 15)
Covers important conversation phrases and grammar structures. Includes practice with functions such as asking for advice, saying "No" politely, offering help and making suggestions.
Fee: $400 ($375 for TIE and UIC community)
Daytime Courses
Speaking and Writing Skills for the IELTS and TOEFL iBT
Mon/Wed/Fri 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (April 29 – May 17)
Mon/Wed 4 – 6 p.m., Fri 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. (April 29 – May 17)
Practice with understanding and responding the types of speaking and writing prompts used in the IELTS and TOEFL iBT. Students receive individualized feedback and instruction on how to improve their spoken and written responses to test questions.
Fee: $700 ($675 for TIE and UIC community)
Introduction to English Proficiency Tests
Mon/Wed/Fri 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. (April 29 – May 17)
Practice with techniques for increasing reading speed and comprehension for the reading portions of the Academic IELTS and TOEFL iBT. Students learn test-taking strategies and ways to increase their academic reading vocabulary.
Fee: $575 ($550 for TIE and UIC community)
Introduction to Conversation Skills Mon/Wed/Fri 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. (April 29 – May 17)
Designed for beginning level speakers of English. Offers instruction and guided practice in everyday conversation skills and survival English.
Fee: $575 ($550 for TIE and UIC community)
Vocabulary and Grammar for Conversation
Mon/Wed 1 – 3 p.m. (April 29 – May 15)
This class covers the same subjects and skills as the evening course.
Fee: $400 ($375 for TIE and UIC community)
