UIC has graduated over 4500 Urban Health Program alumni, most of who still live and practice in the Chicago land area, fulfilling the UHP mission to produce health care providers who will continue to serve local communities lacking in healthcare options.

We estimate that nearly 50% of all African American and Latino healthcare providers in the state of Illinois, and perhaps 70% in Chicago, are UHP/UIC graduates. Without the Urban Health Program, there would be significantly less minority health care workers in Chicago and its surrounding areas. Today, our Urban Health Program serves as a model for educational institutions across the country and our alumni serve as prime examples of giving back to the community.
