ANSWER: If your doctor told you to loose weight, the
best way to go about it would be to begin an exercise program
(after getting clearance from your clinician) and to modify
your eating habits.
A
personal trainer can help you put together an exercise program
that is right for your abilities. Additionally, just doing something
as simple as walking more can help you lose weight and increase
your fitness level.
A nutritionist or dietitian can help you understand your eating
habits and help you modify potentially harmful dietary habits.
Your clinician should be able to refer you to a certified
dietitian that would be able to help you.
As far as supplements or other multivitamins are concerned,
there are no `magic pills' that will help you lose weight
safely. Multivitamins and other supplements are designed to
make up for any nutrient deficiencies that your body may have.
Most people that eat a balanced diet do not need a multivitamin;
however, individuals with certain illnesses may lack specific
nutrients. Your clinician/dietitian should be able to help
you determine if taking a multivitamin would be beneficial
to you.
