Our innovative and award-winning faculty include pioneers who have shaped the fields of women's and sexuality studies. They have expertise in a wide variety of academic disciplines, combining research in history, sociology, anthropology and other fields with gender and sexuality studies. They bring an interssectional and transnational lens to their classes and their research. In other words, they factor in the intimate connections between race, class, gender, sexuality and nationality and frame it all in a global context.
GWS students, faculty and staff enjoy a sense of community, defined through social and cultural events, public programming and informal and formal discussions. We also seek to foster collaborative research and interactive classrooms. However, we enjoy an even larger sense of community through our active involvement in cultural, educational and activist projects related to gender, sexuality and social justice throughout the city.
