ABOUT THE GREAT MIGRATION MAPVIEW

The Great Migration Mapvew contains 13 interactive layers that can be used to explore a) major railroad transportation routes and destinations; b) US census population change data; and c) US census economic and industrial data.  Specifically,  the maps are intended to generate observations, inferences, and questions about the changing distribution of African American population in the US from 1900 to 1930, during the first major wave of internal migration out of the rural South and into the urban North.
