This project is a collaboration between Whittier Elementary School, Inter-American Magnet School, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.  It is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation's Research On Learning Environments (ROLE) program.  The grant is called "Designing Learning Environments for Teaching Scientific Argumentation and Mathematical Reasoning with Geographic Data."
