Library

The CCEE library collection includes more than 8,000 items on child development and early childhood education issues. Current research, hands-on resources and information on development and growth are all part of the library materials. There are books, children's books, big books, theme libraries, videos, DVD's, CD's, audio tapes, discovery packs, activity boxes, periodicals, assessment kits, and computer software. Materials in Spanish, Polish and Asian languages are included in the collection. Informational brochures and flyers are available at the center as well.

A play area within the library allows visitors to bring their children into the center. The children can play while patrons are working within the library. The play area has books, puzzles, puppets, blocks, two touch screen computers with children's games, and other items.

To take advantage of CCEE services, individuals apply for a library resource card. The card allows the person to check out materials and utilize the facilities. You must apply for the card at the center. A picture I.D. with the completed application is required to process the card. After receiving the card in the mail, patrons can check out materials for a three-week period. A maximum of five items may be taken out at one time. Click here for the application.

All the materials are catalogued using the Library of Congress system. Reference materials, periodicals and computer software can only be used onsite. A database catalog system called Alexandria allows patrons to view the collection. See catalog here.
