Free Tax
Help
The Center for Economic Progress (CEP) has free tax sites in more than 20
communities throughout Illinois. Each year, they help nearly 30,000 people file
their taxes and get all the tax credits they’ve earned and refunds they’re
owed. CEP helps provide free tax help to families with income less than
$50,000 and Individuals with income less than $25,000. For more information

Ladder
Up has free tax help for families earning an annual income of $45,000 or less
and individuals earning up to $20,000 annually. All sites operate on a first
come first serve basis and are open from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday

Volunteer
Readers Needed for the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative (IFI)
CCEE
is seeking volunteer readers for the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative’s Annual
2012 Chicago White Sox Fatherhood Essay Contest. The event will take place on
March 14, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at CCEE. You will get the chance to
read essays written by students from all over Illinois from kindergarten
through the 12th grade on the topic of “What My Father Means To Me”.
As a form of appreciation, you will receive a coupon for 2 free tickets to a 2012 Chicago White Sox Game.

Computers
New computers have been
installed in the lab that allows patrons faster access to resources. The
computers are equipped with 4 USB ports and a CD/DVD Drive. No floppy disk
drive is available. Patrons are allowed to print 20 pages per day out of the
lab. Remember no food or drinks are allowed in the lab at any time. Stop by
CCEE and enjoy the new computers.
Microsoft Word 2010
All CCEE computers have been
upgraded to Microsoft Word 2010. Any documents created in Word 2003 and Word
2007 will be able to open in Word 2010 Compatibility Mode. CCEE staff is
available for assistance regarding any questions on Microsoft Word or you can register
for Basic Microsoft Word 2010 Workshop. The
workshop is designed to teach you some basic tasks that will help you become
familiar with Microsoft Word 2010.
