The Family Start Learning Centers (FAST) provide a variety of family literacy services to Chicago’s Head Start and Child Care families. Parents enrolled in FAST's GED, ESL, and Basic Computer classes also participate in family literacy workshops where they learn strategies to support their children’s education. Financial literacy workshops are also available and have been extremely well received by the Head Start community. 

The FAST instructional teams serve over 4,000 families each year and are committed to helping parents develop the knowledge, skills, and resources to be full partners in their children’s education.  The teams also work with parents to promote economic self-sufficiency so that Head Start and Child Care families are better prepared to achieve their educational and financial goals.
