Maureen Meehan
As
Associate Director of the UIC Center for Literacy, Maureen Meehan coordinates
community-based literacy programs and school improvement initiatives. She
oversees the Family Start Learning Centers, which provide family literacy
programs for children and parents in Head Start and Child Care programs;
the Chicago Center for Early Education, a resource center for early
childhood professionals and parents of young children; and SOAR with
Literacy, a Head Start-Youth Development initiative. Dr. Meehan also administers an
AmeriCorps grant that supports these literacy initiatives, and also
coordinates the Center for Literacy's Framework for Reading Improvement
professional development programs.
Dr.
Meehan received her Ph.D. in Education from the University of Illinois in
2000.
