Michael Czerniawski
Michael
Czerniawski began working with the Center for Literacy in 2001 and
currently coordinates the Center’s Chicago Reading Framework
project. He specializes in professional
development and concentrates on programs that help teachers improve their
reading and writing instruction. He also develops programs to
assist schools with assessment and evaluation, motivation,
standards-based curricula, content area literacy, classroom management,
and several other topics.
In
addition, Mr. Czerniawski researches literacy issues and evaluates and
advises programs partnered with the Center for Literacy.
Prior
to working for UIC, Mr. Czerniawski taught English, Spanish, and
ESL. He has also created curriculum materials for Chicago Public
Schools and The Wright Group.
Mr.
Czerniawski received his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership with a focus on
Reading, Writing, and Literacy from the University of Illinois in 2003.
