Work Experience Program
The Work Experience Program is designed to provide Head Start parents with exposure to a real world office environment. Parents are placed as administrative interns at partner Head Start sites were they receive on-the-job training. Under the direction of site staff, Work Experience Participants assist with tasks such as preparing reports, creating documents, and assisting with receptionist duties. Parents also receive weekly career development and life skills training on topics such as computer training in Microsoft Office, workplace ethics, conflict resolution, and stress management, among other topics. Head Start parents participating in the program acquire valuable skills that will help them to succeed in positions that offer reasonable salaries and benefits upon completing the program.
