APLLE Project

The Achieving Preschool Language and Literacy Excellence (APLLE) project was a partnership between UIC and four Archdiocese of Chicago schools: Our Lady of Tepeyac School, St. Agnes of Bohemia School, St. Ann School and St. Gall School. It began in 2008 and ran through the 2011-2012 school year.

APLLE teachers who were in the project since its inception developed classrooms that were centers of early literacy excellence. They not only implemented all aspects of the Opening the World of Learning curriculum but also developed additional curriculum units on topics like Animal Habitats and Night and Day to suit their students’ needs.

The final report for APLLE-ERF delivered to the U. S. Department of Education can be view by clicking here.
