REQUIREMENTS IN THE TEACHING DISCIPLINE

GERMAN
A student seeking
secondary education certification in German through entitlement
at UIC must complete the requirements for the major field of study
as described in the appropriate section of the current undergraduate
/ graduate catalog. Previous coursework taken in this field is
evaluated by a faculty advisor in the German department.

Secondary Education German Requirements
Regardless
of German coursework done at other institutions, any student wishing
to participate in the UIC program must satisfactorily complete
UIC coursework in the methodology of the teaching of German (GER
407) and spend one semester in a student teaching setting (GER
494, GER 495). Attendance
in the day is necessary for the semesters in which these requirements
are completed.
1.Method
of Teaching German - 4 semester hours
Methods of Foreign Language
Teaching - GER 407 - 4 semester hours
2.Student Teaching - 12 Semester hours
Education Practice with Seminar
I and II, (German 494, 6 semester hours and German 495, 6 semester
hours). One semester (16 weeks) of full-time supervised
teaching.
