The Early Outreach Saturday College Program is a long-term developmental program for students in grades seven through twelve. The program convenes on campus at UIC during the school year and serves students from the city and suburbs that attend public, private, parochial, and home schools. The program helps to prepare minority and underrepresented students for college. Students who are at or above grade level and who have interest in any of the disciplines in which the University of Illinois offers degree programs may participate.

In addition to college preparation through academic enrichment in mathematics, science, and language arts, students receive academic, college, and career counseling. They also receive exposure to diverse career paths through workshops, small group interactive/hands-on activities, forums, lectures, mentoring, and summer preceptorships in University departments and community-based organizations. University faculty, graduate students, and outstanding public and parochial school teachers provide instruction in the academic classes. Graduates from the College of Education currently assist in curriculum development and teacher training.

Saturday College students have access to the University's classrooms, libraries, computer and science laboratories, athletic facilities, counselors, faculty, and student unions. Parent participation in the Early Outreach Parent Network is a requisite for student participation. Annually, the program serves 250-300 seventh through twelfth graders. In 1998, a sixth grade class was added to fulfill a grant with the Chicago Public Schools.
